Child's Grave

Collected by Julia Averkieva from the Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakiutl) of Vancouver Island, Canada. Traditionally the corpse of a child was placed in a carved box. The box was then placed high in the branches of a spruce tree to prevent wolves from stealing the body.
