3-Striped Flag
A contemporary figure created by origami expert Jun Maekawa of Japan. The national flags of seventeen countries have three horizontal stripes: Armenia, Austria, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Columbia, Estonia, Gabon, The Gambia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Russian Federation, Sierra Leone, and Yemen.

Step 5 - Return hands to normal position; L hand tugs on each of the two R5f strings to identify the string that does NOT run to R1, then L hand wraps this string once around R5 and releases it; extend.
R1 picks up the upper string of the central horizontal loop; R2 pushes the R palmar knot towards R1 (this ensures an even distribution of the stripes in the final design). |
