Sacred Circle
A contemporary string figure created by a Native American faithkeeper. Sacred Circles, Mandalas, Medicine Wheels: all are symbols of wholeness and the infinite. To Native Americans, a Sacred Circle represents the togetherness of people who sit around a campfire. It symbolizes the sun, the moon, and the paths they travel in the sky. It reminds us that the seasons and life itself are never ending cycles.

Step 8 - Four diamonds flank the central diamond. 2 and 3, from above, enter these diamonds and enlarge them by tugging strings toward the palm until the pattern is symmetrical.
Three lateral loops encircle the intertwined palmar strings. 2 and 3, from above, enter the pattern between the three lateral loops and tug the intertwined strings toward the palm until the lateral loops are evenly spaced. Extend and admire. The central octagon represents the "Sacred Circle". |
