Two More UFOs

A contemporary string figure created in 1981 by Yukio Shishido of Kyoto, Japan. It resembles a string figure we featured in May ("Two UFOs") but the football-shaped cages that represent flying saucers are separated rather than fused. One transformation (Step 7) and two alternative endings (Steps 8a and 8b) are offered.

Step 4 - 2 and 3 enter both 5 loops from above; 3 passes under oblique 5f (which runs to opposite 2), then passes over and behind transverse 5f (which runs to opposite 5); 3, with the help of 2, hooks up transverse 5f, rotating towards you and up as it returns (oblique 5f slips off 3 in the process).

With the help of the opposite hand remove and release both loops from 5.

5, from below, removes 3 loop.
