Two More UFOs

A contemporary string figure created in 1981 by Yukio Shishido of Kyoto, Japan. It resembles a string figure we featured in May ("Two UFOs") but the football-shaped cages that represent flying saucers are separated rather than fused. One transformation (Step 7) and two alternative endings (Steps 8a and 8b) are offered.

Step 5 - 2 and 3 enter both 1 loops from above; 2 passes under oblique 1n (which runs to opposite 2), then 2 passes over and in front of transverse 1n (which runs to opposite 1); 2, with the help of 3, hooks up transverse 1n, rotating away from you and up as it returns (oblique 1n slips off 2 in the process).

Release both loops from 1 and extend to absorb the slack.

1, from below, removes upper 2 loop.
